My son and I were flipping channels over the weekend. When we passed by the kid’s movie called Megamind, he said “go back to that show Mom.” There are some top notch actors who lend their voices to the characters in this movie…Tina Fey, Brad Pitt and Will Ferrell to name a few. A movie with a superhero/villain storyline, Megamind is the bad guy in this show. (Spoiler alert! if you haven’t seen the movie, you may just want to skip to the last paragraph.) Megamind has always been the bad guy, but he falls in love with a reporter named Roxanne. She knows he could be a good guy and because of her, he starts to see that he could be a good guy too. When a new villain comes into town, the characters come together with a common vision in order to save the city. In the end, Megamind becomes the hero who saves the city and gets the girl.
Now let’s talk about a mastermind. A mastermind is when you bring people together to focus on their personal development and accountability to reach their vision. The group meets weekly to focus on their goals. The entire group provides support, ideas and holds everyone accountable to complete their actions each week. Similar to the Megamind movie, a Mastermind group comes together to accomplish their goals, reach new possibilities and in the end see themselves differently. I know you were wondering how these two things tied together! 🙂
What if you had Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt in your mastermind? It would definitely be entertaining and there would be a lot of laughter. You definitely wouldn’t want to let them down by not accomplishing your actions though would you? I bet you would even over deliver! I can’t promise that you will have movie stars in a mastermind group, but you will have some amazing, supportive and smart people who just want to see you succeed.
