Happy New Year! Welcome to 2019!
I love the first day of the year. It is a clean slate to start over and move forward from what happened last year. I posted a quote yesterday that said: “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” by Brad Paisley. So it is now time to fill up your first page of the year. What do you want to write on that first page that helps you remember today? Although you can create a lot on the page, sometimes the less is more approach can be just as meaningful. Do what feels right for you.
Here are a few ideas:
- What is your vision for yourself this year? Why is this important to you? Imagine it is now December 31st. What do you want to see that you have accomplished this year?
- Look at the major areas (career, family, financials, health, spiritual, etc.) of your life and rate them on a scale from 1-10. Are they where you want them to be? For example, if your health is at a 5, what actions can you take to bring it up to a 9 or a 10?
- Reflect on any things that happened in 2018 that you want to be different in 2019. What are three goals that you can focus on and reach a different outcome?
- Capture what great things happened to you in 2018 and the things that you are grateful for in your life. Focusing on the positive things can make so much difference to help you appreciate what you have.
Simon Sinek is quoted as saying “There’s no right or wrong time. Just start. Better now than later and better late than never.” So go find yourself a blank notebook and get started!
