If you are in an office environment and especially if you have a team, you are getting interrupted about every 8 minutes. It makes it hard to get a whole lot done in that time. When I was in the office, I used to go find a place that I could hide out and get things done when I needed to focus. There are always distractions, but we need to find a way to block those out.
As some of you know, I am writing a book right now. I used to think that I was going to have to go away for about month to focus on it to get it written. I am a part of this amazing book writing workshop and they taught me that there is a better way. Writing every day is what is really important even if it is only for 20 minutes is better than trying to find big chunks of time to write. We have established writing times each day and those have made all the difference. For those 20 minute sessions we are focused on working on our books.
These set writing times have helped me establish a boundary of my time to get this book written. I put them on my calendar and unless I am traveling, I make it to those sessions. It holds me accountable and helps me make progress each day. What do you need to get done and how can you establish time boundaries on your calendar to make that happen?
