Are you being authentic in your life? Brene Brown said that “authenticity is a practice and you choose it every day.” I like to believe that all leaders are doing the best that they can to show up authentically. They may not even realize that they aren’t already showing up that way. What if they put a focus on being the person that they really are, instead of the person that everyone else wants them to be?
This is easy to say, but it isn’t easy to do. It requires vulnerability from the leader to be able to show up in a genuine way. Being authentic takes work to stay focused, transparent and build trust with others. It can be difficult to take a stand to be different when comparisons are made to other leaders and their actions.
Practicing authenticity every day helps instill this in you until it is second nature. What if you set an intention to be authentic in every interaction that you had with your team, clients and management? The choice you get to make is simple, what type of leader do you want to be?
