I have been reading a book in my Mastermind group called “When All Boats Rise” by Steve Chandler. It is a compilation of information from multiple coaches sharing what they do to be in service to clients. These coaches do whatever they can to add value to their clients and focus on that above everything else. From a leadership perspective, it would be comparable to Servant Leadership where you are putting the needs of others first and helping the people around you to develop as much as they can.
Is the servant leadership mindset something that you take with the people in your life? It isn’t to say that you put yourself last, but when you are focused on your team, family etc, you are intentionally looking for ways to help them shine and gain exposure to reach their goals. For those who have not tried this approach before, it may seem very different than what they have traditionally done in the past. In my experience, servant leadership builds so much more trust, collaboration and respect with everyone you are connecting with every day. You are being authentic and just focused on helping them succeed.
Imagine if someone would have done that for you? How great would it be if you didn’t have to worry about someone undermining you or finding ways to put you down? What if everyone worked together to see that they all had success as a team and as individuals? This can happen if you intentionally create a culture in your team to be that way. Focus on the positive things that people are doing and course correct if people start to fall back into old habits. Build a culture where everyone stands for the success of others to create a team that is unstoppable and accomplishes amazing things.
