I was thinking about all the benefits that self-care can provide. You have less stress, you are healthier, more rested, calm and happier. Those are all examples of the way that self-care can benefit you. However, the other benefit that isn’t always considered is how it provides exponential benefits for those around you.
You are setting an example for your children (if you have them), co-workers, friends and family. They are able to see how the changes that you have made have helped you change your life and they will want that for themselves. Learning from someone who has had the experience is so helpful. You can see how excited they are at how these small daily changes have made a difference in their lives.
Focus on the small things that you can do each day for yourself. Learn what has worked for them and identify what is best for you. Here are some quick suggestions that you could implement today: meditate, take a walk, get a massage or a pedicure, read a book, write in your journal, just be quiet and still for 5 minutes, listen to your favorite music, or visit someplace that inspires you. Do the things that make you happy and you will realize all those benefits for yourself and those around you.
