There are many situations where it takes courage to stand up for yourself. Starting your own business is a great example of how you need to be able to face your critics. It takes a lot of time to get things going and initially you are a team of only one. There are a lot of decisions to make that set the foundation for how your business will run. You will have many people who see this is as a risky venture and are not afraid to tell you that you are making a mistake regularly. Those critical comments are about their risk tolerance, not yours. For those entrepreneurs who are consistently in need of external validation, it is a test to be able to push past your doubts and ignore the negative comments.
You can’t change what other people think or what they say. You can only control yourself, how you think and what you do. There comes a time when you need to let all those critical comments go. Believe in yourself, accept who you are and know that what you are doing is the right thing for you. Taking this path is exciting, scary and so rewarding all at the same time. You don’t need anyone else’s approval or agreement anymore. All you need to do is to accept yourself, keep marching down your path and find the people who will be there to support you as you move forward on this journey.
