What Would Make You See Change as a Good Thing?

Is your company going through a major transition?  Are you dealing with a major life change like moving or a job change?   For many people these types of changes bring a lot of fear and uncertainty.  You find ways to try to manage the fears and control what you can when everything is shifting around you. What if you tried to looks at these types of changes in a different way?

What if you looked at this change with curiosity and excitement?  Think about the change as an adventure that brings new opportunities for you.  You could meet new people and expand your network, learn new things, gain new responsibilities and expand your skills.  Ask yourself what good things can come from this change which frees you up to see the positives instead of the negatives that may initially show up.

Changes like these are opportunities to show up differently and affect how people see you. You could even impress yourself with the new things that you are doing and how you are accomplishing even more than you thought you could.  It will expand your perspective and help you to push outside the boundaries that you have set for yourself.  Reflect on a change that you have been through in the past.  Was it as bad as you originally thought?  Did you grow by going through it?  Did that experience teach you things to prepare you for the next change?

Change is a constant in our lives and it isn’t going away.  Embracing the change and seeing how you can learn from it is going to help you move through the change faster and with more success.  Take advantage of the change and recognize how many good things can come from it.  This mindset shift towards curiosity rather than fear is not only what helps you through the change, but it also provides a calm presence for all of those around you.  People naturally gravitate to those who are calm in the midst of chaos to help them have a sense of stability.  You can be that person if you remember that you have been through changes before and that everything turned out alright.  See the change as a good thing that provides you an opportunity to grow and to help support others along the journey.
