I have seen many occasions where people don’t always support each other in the workplace. Why don’t we assume the best about each other? There is already enough negativity in the world, let’s not add to it. Helen Keller said “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Imagine what we could accomplish if we all worked together and supported each other?
There are so many people who have helped to mentor and support me in my career. You have the opportunity to make a difference for someone else each and every day. Here are some ways to do that if you need some ideas:
-
Pay a compliment or say thank you to one of your peers for a job well done.
-
Offer your help to someone without expecting anything in return. You will be amazed how many good things come back to you when you least expect it.
-
Be a good example and lead the way. Assume positive intent before jumping to conclusions. Don’t look for people to fail and then put them down.
-
Help others in your life see the importance of sticking together and supporting each other’s success.
-
Be a mentor or a sponsor to those who need your guidance and have the potential to succeed with your help.
-
Find ways to use your influence to promote what other team members are doing.
-
Bolster the confidence of someone who isn’t quite as confident yet.
-
Provide opportunities for them to get exposure, trust them with more responsibility and be there to congratulate them when they succeed!
