“Forget yesterday – it has already forgotten you. Don’t sweat tomorrow – you haven’t even met. Instead, open your eyes and your heart to a truly precious gift – today.”
― Steve Maraboli
This quote is about appreciating what you have right in front of you and being open to it. Don’t live in a world of regret dwelling on what you wish would have happened or constantly wishing for what might be coming next. Take a moment to appreciate what you have right now and see how wonderful it is.
It also reminded me of a line from a movie called “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” The main character, Ferris Bueller says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” Ferris was all about living in the moment.
This is something that we don’t do enough of in these busy lives we lead. For those in the U.S. celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, this is a perfect opportunity to take a moment to appreciate what you have and be grateful for the people in your life. The good thing is that this type of appreciation doesn’t need to wait for a special day of the year. It is something that we can focus on and practice each and every day.
