What Do You Have On Your List That Needs To Be Addressed?

Avoidance has been showing up for many of my clients over the last few weeks. Some examples of this are struggling with conversations that need to occur with their team or a big decision about letting someone go. Obviously all of these things are hard things to face. What is always interesting is that when I ask them if avoidance is showing up anywhere else in their life, there is always a big yes! They start naming things in their personal life that they are avoiding as well.

Usually what happens on one side of your life is also happening on the other. Makes sense right? You are one whole person and your life isn’t one sided. You can’t easily compartmentalize one side of your life away from the other. If you see yourself avoiding something in one area of your life, pay attention and see if it is also happening on the other side as well. Make a list to see what things you are avoiding in both sides of your life and what needs to be done to address them.

Sometimes when we hold things inside, they don’t seem as real. Keeping all of that inside just creates stress for you. However, once you write things down, they become the reality that you need to face. Ask for help if you need it, but just start tackling them one at a time. See how much better you feel when you start crossing them off of your list. Do you have things to add to your avoidance list?
