She lists four lessons to consider:
- Being Humble – always remember where you came from and that others helped you get to where you are. What are you doing to help others and pull them up?
- The Magic of Communication – how well are you communicating? I can’t tell you how many times there are conflicts that occur simply because of misunderstandings. Don’t assume that everyone has the same take-aways in a conversation. Confirm them and be aligned.
- You Will Have to Swallow Your Pride – Have you made a mistake before? I know admitting you are wrong is not easy to admit to your team or your peers, but it will let others know that you will take responsibility for your mistakes.
- Sharing is Caring – Are you helping other people? Are you finding ways to share more of yourself with others and help to support them? Be open to share your leadership lessons and embrace your vulnerability.
All of these lessons will help you reach your goals by building stronger relationships. It helps others see that there are situations that everyone goes through and that they are not alone. It also helps to build respect for you as a leader. They will see you as a more authentic and approachable leader that they can trust.
